Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are the engine of the European economy. In the EU 25, 23 million SMEs provide around 75 million jobs and represent 99% of all enterprises. However they seldom have the capacity to systematically exploit energy savings.
ENGINE aimed at helping the engine of European economy become more energy efficient by offering a proper analysis of status quo by means of an Energy Efficiency Checks, working towards regional capacity building by training auditors and creating networks. ENGINE build up an knowledge pool of concepts, instruments and approaches already available and launched informational campaigns to increase awareness on the issue.
